Allison Bierman SOC 3020 Strand December 11, 2014 Final Paper: Question #9 The writings of Karl Marx, Max Weber, and Emile Durkheim each set out to discuss how an individual is connected to their social standing within society. Along with how social classes form their beginnings. Each of their theories are complex and require thorough analysis in order to fully understand their point of view. How social class is obtained in the United States is the question being posed. I will discuss which theory I personally think is best and most applicable to our modern society. I will thoroughly compare and contrast the works of Marx, Weber, and Durkheim; along with pointing out strengths and weaknesses in all three. It is first important to understand the meaning of social class. Sociologically speaking, the term social class is a way to divide individuals based upon their economic and social standing within the larger system of economic production. In the United States, the five most common social classes include: upper class-elite, upper mid dle class, lower middle class, working class, and poor. It is assumed that the more money one has, the higher their class status will be however there is always the possibility for outliers. Social class controls several aspects of our lives and is an extremely important factor when determining potential opportunities. The Van Beethoven s Musical Style And Innovations

Luwig Van Beethoven Ludwig Van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany and spent his musical career in Vienna. Beethoven is â€Å"widely considered to be one of the pre-eminent classical music figures of the Western world† (Beethoven 5). Beethoven was taught music by his father, but by the age of nine he had already outstripped his father’s musical knowledge and was taken under the wing of Gottlob Neefe. Neefe â€Å"schooled Beethoven in both piano playing and basic composition, introducing him to the works of J.S. Bach -- especially the Well-Tempered Klavier - C.P.E. Bach and Mozart† (Suchet). Bonn insisted that Beethoven return to Vienna due to his â€Å"works in the sonata style than of music in other genres – variations, lieder and large vocal-orchestral pieces† (Kerman). Phonics Lesson Plan Free Essays

Title of Your Lesson| Digraph Picture Hunt| Grade Level| 4th| Subject| Phonics- Digraphs| Summary and Rationale (Connections to Big Goal/Unit)| Students will be working with digraphs. TTW will students what sounds /ph/, /th/, and /sh/ make as a reminder and then asked to give examples. The students will then be given poster board split into three categories for each of the three digraphs and will be working in groups of three to find words and pictures in magazines that fit into the three categories. We will write a custom essay sample on Phonics Lesson Plan or any similar topic only for you Order Now At the end of the activity, the students will present their findings as a summary and a test to make sure the activity was completed correctly. The goal of this activity will be for students to be able to recognize digraphs through pictures as words.
